Red Cross instructor snow on a snowboard

RED CROSS — An instructor from the Red Cross has been charged with assaulting a snowboarding instructor during a demonstration, police said.

A woman, who has not been identified, said she was at the Red Rock Mountain Ski Center on Thursday morning when she saw the instructor get out of a lift and grab a snow board, police spokesman Steve Anderson said in a statement.

She said she tried to calm him down and then began yelling at him to get the board away from her, Anderson said.

The woman said she then heard the instructor yell at her, “You’re going to jail, you’re going jail,” Anderson said, adding the woman was then punched in the face.

After she was taken to the hospital, the woman told police she was hit in the back of the head with a snow-board.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
